In clinic practices, the treatment plan for dealing with face lifting was complex because the patients often had more than one chief complaint beside besides their beauty concern. Some additional concerns were related to menopause, including symptoms such as dry eyes, skin, and/or mouth and hot-flashes. Other patients had seasonal allergies and suffered from dry and itchy eyes and/or a puffy nose. Some senior women often struggled with chronic musculoskeletal pains.
One case from my patients I worked before is a prime example of this complex type of care, and it features some exciting changes in the patient's health over time. She liked to look youthful, meanwhile she was suffering from chronic arthritis, shoulder pain, and was developing some menopausal symptoms. Through multiple modalities, including LTD, moxibustion and acupuncture, she experienced the healing results both internally and externally. She felt happier and lighter than before, because the inward burden of stress, dryness and pains were released through her treatment. The outward wrinkles and loose skin around her neck did not transform to a perfect condition within the limited time and treatments. However, the treatments created a sense of peace and ease for the patient, and this was reflected on her face and in her spirit. The case provides great evidence of the deep healing that facial acupuncture can support both internally and externally.
Through years of experience in LDT combined with my new facial acupuncture technique, I found joy in treating “beauty” related concerns in addition to internal diseases, and I had the unique opportunity to address a wide range of needs for my patients. The reasons for my interest in facial acupuncture include the following: First, I could pay closer attention to patient’s “Shen” (their psychiatric state) through their face and breath. Because of this awareness, I easily built effective communication and relationships with patients. Second, both of us could quickly gain results through treatment. The patient’s sense of relaxation and satisfaction are worthy of my hard work, deep thinking and concentration on the tiny needles. Third, I gained more evidence that TCM slows down the aging process both inside and outside of body. There are many Chinese herbal applications integrated into beauty treatments; patients found more exciting results on this special need of facial rejuvenation through acupunctural technique.
