Social skills are often found to be weak in persons with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), NVLD (Non-Verbal Learning), SCD (Social Communication Disorder), and ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) which includes Aspergers.
Loneliness is often the result of poor social skills. This in turn causes more stress which can have a negative effect on the physical body as well as emotional and mental health.
Good social skills help people to have positive interactions with other people.
Communicating effectively is better achieved when a person takes the other person and situation into account in order to make appropriate adjustments when interacting. There are many components to having good communication such as facial expression, inflection, word usage, volume, tone, pitch, staying focused on topic, content of conversation, body position, being engaging, interest level, and of course, even basic social etiquette.
